A Mechanical Mind

Chicago based jeweler JM Gershenson-Gates is the brainchild, thinker and assembler behind A Mechanical Mind. These intricate anthropods are built using ‘behind the scenes’ watch parts, a place generally hidden from the public behind metal and glass.

Gates’ pieces display the more delicate and ephemeral side of gears, rather than the cold, hard factory feel they normally portray.

3D Airbrushing

Dutch illustrator Ramon Bruin brings paper to life with his personable and technical anamorphosis sketches. His vivid and imaginative mind captures an array of objects and animals that literally jump out of the page.

Forget the 3D goggles…simply absorb and enjoy!

Dew-covered ‘Sects

The Eco Crossing

According to China’s Ministry of Commerce; the country is now the world’s largest car market with over 500 million vehicles on the road. This attention grabbing piece commissioned by the Environmental Protection Foundation encouraged people to walk more and drive less.

Each green footprint added to the canvas highlighting the impact people could make on creating a greener environment.

The final print was exhibited at the Shanghai Zheng Da Art Museum.

Painted Pigeons

In order to change the perception of pigeons being ‘the rats of the sky’, Berlin-based artists Julian Charriere and Julius von Bismarck decided to paint the feathered fellas in various vivid colors. Without harming the pigeons, the artist duo spray-painted them with a specially created booth hoping that the hostility would be replaced by camera shutter clicks

Big Appetites

Big Appetites

Seattle-based photographer Christopher Boffoli belongs to a select group of artists who play with scale, magnifying and subverting the everyday to create a world for his meticulously hand-painted miniature figures to inhabit.

In this series the world is gastronomic: canoeists set sail on split milk; scuba divers prepare to submerge in a cup of tea; a golfer tees off the top of a cupcake.
